The dawn of the second half of 20'1 century amaziingly witnessed the meteoric rise of the Kerala State Handloom Weavers Co-operative Society Ltd. H-232, HANTEX. The one and only protective umbrella for the Co-operative weavers in the Kerala State.
Now Hantex is implementing Cluster Development programme which is sponsored by Government of India and Government of Kerala. Ooruttambalam cluster is one among them. It comprises of 9 Handloom primary co-operative Societies in the Ooruttambalam Handloom circle. The cluster area of the handloom Industry is spread over upto Balaramapuram and includes traditional weaving centres situated in the Pallichal panchayath also in Trivandrum District -Kerala. The village is near to Balaramapuram, connected to the National Highway 47 which is 14 kilometer from Trivandrum Railway Station. The rural artisan weavers of this area had done marvelous products- Balaramapuram Sarees and Dothys.
The latest innovation is using vegetable (Ayurvedic Medicines) colours for dyeing. The Cluster produces new furnishing clothes and dress materials for domestic and international markets. It is indeed, notable that all products are eco-friendly.
